Pitching, Catching, and Advanced Skills Clinics
Take advantage of pitching, catching, and advanced skills clinics provided at no additional charge to BHGS players.
This is a great opportunity to strengthen existing skills or learn new ones.
6U
Coaches
6U BHGS Coaching clinic (TBD): Mandatory introductory clinic to coaching for all 6U coaches. We will go over the 6U division rules, the “Branham Hills way”, and do a hands on walk through for coaching geared toward the 6U division.
Steve Hill Coach’s Clinics (TBD): Mandatory Coach’s clinics in offense and defense run by Steve Hill, an experienced softball coach. Steve will show coaches how to teach various skills and look for common issues in player performance. Head coaches required to go. Assistant coaches and managers encouraged to go.
Field Set-up clinic (mid-late March): Informational clinic showing coaches/assistant coaches/parents how to set up the fields for the 6U division. We will cover watering and dragging the field, putting in bases, chalking base lines/pitcher’s circle/batter’s boxes/coach’s boxes, putting in the pitcher’s mound, etc.

Pitching for Coaches clinic (TBD): Mandatory hands-on pitching clinic to show coaches how to teach the basics of pitching. Must sign up.
Steve Hill Coach’s Clinics (TBD): Mandatory Coach’s clinics in offense and defense run by Steve Hill, an experienced softball coach. Steve will show coaches how to teach various skills and look for common issues in player performance. Head coaches required to go. Assistant coaches and managers encouraged to go.

Parents and Players
Scorekeeping Clinic (TBD): Learning the basics of scorekeeping. Although 8U does not have to keep an official scorebook until the second half of the season, each team is required to send at least one representative. Open to everyone.
Advanced Pitching/Catching (TBD): Invitation only. Pitchers/catchers will improve established skills and learn intricacies of pitching/catching for more competitive play. This will allow more advanced pitchers/catchers to get more one-on-one coaching.
Intro to Pitching/Catching (TBD): open to all 8U/10U players interested in learning to pitch/catch. Each team is required to send at least one player per position. We will cover basic mechanics in pitching (holding the ball, arm motion, footwork, and good practice technique) or catching (stance, footwork, glove position, and movement). All pitchers must bring a parent/sibling/grandparent/etc. to be their catcher.
8U Friday Player clinic (TBD): Optional skills clinic for the 8U division. The 8U coaches will work together to run drills to develop player skills in hitting, defense, baserunning, and sliding.
Travel Ball Clinic (TBD): Informational meeting about BHGS travel ball. Travel occurs during the summer months (May-July) and is a more competitive version of softball. At the clinic we answer FAQs about travel, what it is, and what the commitment entails. Open to 8U, 10U, and 12U divisions.
Beginning Pitching/Catching (TBD): For 8U/10U players who sign up following the introductory clinics. Each team is required to send at least one player per position. Player must commit to 4 consecutive weeks. Basic skills for pitching/catching will be reviewed and built upon. Pitchers must bring a parent/sibling/grandparent/etc to be their catcher.

Umpire clinic (TBD): Hands-on clinic to learn how to umpire from USA softball certified umpires. Attendees will go over the USA softball rule book, basic umpiring technique, and practice common game situations. Must sign up. No experience necessary.
