About the Tina Martinetti awardTina first stepped onto these fields as a player herself in the 80s. Then went on to be a coach at BHGS.
Tina had a contagious personality and loved to laugh. Tina was the type of coach who believed in all the players. She not only coached her team, but also was ready and willing to mentor new coaches, assist a player that was struggling, even if she was on the opposing team. When Tina was diagnosed with breast cancer, it was devastating, but even worse when she lost her battle. She put up a good fight with a courageous attitude and just like the game of softball, quitting was never an option for her. She came to these fields every day and made a difference in the girl’s lives because she loved this game. Tina taught all of us that each day is a gift and that we are not guaranteed anything in life. BHGS would like to thank each and every coach who dedicates their time to the coaching of these girls. Coaching takes a special person to step up and commit. Thank you for being that person. |
About the Emily coyne awardNomination forms are reviewed by the board and a player is selected from each division and recognized during closing ceremonies.
Throughout the season coaches and managers are asked to nominate girls they feel meet the highest standards of sportsmanship, friendship and fair play. When a coach or manager sees a girl demonstrating these qualities, they are asked to complete the following form. At the end of the season the BHGS Board of Trustees will review the nominations and will select one girl from each division to receive the award. The girls selected will be recognized during the BHGS closing ceremonies. The recipients of this award will be listed on a plaque, which will be displayed in the BHGS snack shack, and they will each receive a $25 Shopping Gift Certificate. The award is dedicated to Emily Coyne who played Branham Hills Girls Softball for several years and who in spite of battling cancer always played with spirit, determination and friendship.
